4-Point Outline for Simple Weekly Reports

Weekly project status reports don’t have to be time-consuming. With the right structure, you can quickly share the most important updates with stakeholders—without unnecessary detail or extra effort.

This simple four-point outline works well for both written reports and presentations. Most managers and stakeholders are primarily interested in four key areas. If they need more detail, they’ll ask.

1. Work Accomplished

  • Summarize the work completed since the last report
  • Highlight key milestones, deliverables, or progress made

2. Issues

  • Identify any challenges or obstacles encountered
  • Be clear and concise about what’s impacting progress

3. Issue Resolution

  • Explain the actions taken to address issues
  • Note whether the issues are resolved or still in progress

4. Planned Work

  • Outline the work scheduled for the upcoming week
  • Include priorities and any important deadlines
